STAYING AT BLUE SPIRIT

RECEPTION

 

Front desk reception is staffed daily from 24 hours a day.

Should you need any after-hours assistance, please come to reception to speak to the manager-on-duty. We are here to help you.

Check In & Check Out Times

Check in time for all rooms is: 4pm. People usually start arriving around 2pm. For those that have a later flight and are staying onsite longer, they can pay for lunch at the Front Desk ($18).

The official check out time is 10am so anyone that has a late flight is welcome to hang out on-site (pool, beach, etc.) but they should return keys and be out of their room by 10am..

Luggage can be stored at reception before or after the indicated hours on arrival or departure days.

Please settle your bill for any extras incurred during your stay by 4pm. on the day before your departure day.

Please do not forget to return room keys to reception. There is a $25 charge for lost or unreturned keys.

4:30pm to 6:00pm: Restoratives - Forward Bends & Wwists
   

MEALS

 

We hope that you will feel nourished by the delicious, freshly prepared meals. All meals are served in the dining hall. The cuisine at Blue Spirit focuses on organic (as available), natural vegetarian cooking made from locally grown produce, as well fresh fish caught by fisherman from local waters. The Meal times are:

Breakfast - 7:30am to 9:00am
Lunch - 12:30pm to 1:30pm
Dinner - 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Breakfast is included on Saturday the 23rd.

 

CAFE

 

The café is open daily, times are adjusted to group–schedules.

The café offers fresh fruit and vegetable juices, super food smoothies, freshly baked goods, raw food snacks, coffee specialties, and in the evening organic wines and beers. The café is ideal for reading, quiet conversations, and late night gatherings with friends.

Food and beverages at the café are not included in the program fees charged for your room and board. All purchases will be charged individually, and can be paid with cash or charged to your room. Located adjacent to our café is the café library. It has a small collection of books and magazines. We are slowly building this library – perhaps you would like to leave a book with us for others to enjoy – as we hope you will enjoy using this library as well.

 

BLUE SPIRIT STORE

 

We have a lovely selection of Costa Rican arts and crafts, along with jewelry, yoga clothes, books, CD's, personal and sundry times, and the very best of local Costa Rican coffee and super foods for you to take home!

We support local artisans as much as possible and your purchases go towards supporting the community.

The hours for the store are posted on the door. Please check with reception for assistance, if you have an urgent need for something in the store when it is closed.

 

POOL

 

The pool has a graceful infinity edge overlooking the jungle, and is filled with natural salt water.

A favorite spot of guests to sunbathe, or soak the muscles after an eco-adventure or a challenging yoga class - some enjoy swimming in the evenings under the stars.

Towels can be found at the Front Desk.

 

DRINKING WATER

 

All tap water at Blue Spirit comes from deep wells and is completely safe to drink. Additionally, all of the meals and fresh juices served in the dining hall are prepared with alkaline, filtered well water.

 

MEANS OF COMMUNICATION

 

Phone: For local calls guests can use the phone in the lobby at no cost. For international calls, please purchase a pre-paid calling card at reception.

If your loved ones at home in the US, Canada, or Europe need to reach you, they can call Blue Spirit's office phone: +1 646.833.3410. This US phone line connects with the offices in Costa Rica and the US at US calling rates. As there are no phones in your accommodations, the receptionist will take a message and post it on the message board in the reception area. If calling from within Costa Rica, the phone number at reception for leaving messages for guests is: 2656.8300.

There is cell phone service on the premises that supports local and some international cell phones. Please check your carrier's per minute charges before calling internationally so you are aware of the cost.

We also recommend the use of Skype or other Internet phone services, as the main building has Wi-Fi, and the use of voice over Internet is easy, inexpensive, and reliable.

 

INTERNET

 

Wireless Internet is available at no cost and can be accessed via your personal laptop or smart phone throughout the main building and its accommodations. You can also use the public guest computer in the lobby.

Please note that Blue Spirit cannot guarantee connection to all types of laptop computers nor provide technical support for Wi-Fi access.

 

ROOM SAFES

 

With the exception of the platform tents, all rooms have complimentary safes for you to store your valuables in. Guests staying in the Tents can store valuables in the safe at reception. Please note that Blue Spirit is not responsible for any stolen personal belongings on the premises.

 

HOUSEKEEPING

 

Respecting the beauty and ecological concerns of Costa Rica we will only change sheets upon request. If you want towels laundered, please bring them to the Front Desk.

Please let reception know if there is anything in your room that needs attention.

 

BEING ECO-CONCIOUS AND MINDFUL

 

We ask for your help conserving energy by turning off the lights, A/C, and electric fans when you are not in your room.

Please help us conserve the precious resource of water by limiting your time in the showers - be conscious bathers.

Please respect quiet hours from 10pm to 7am.

 

SEPTIC SYSTEM

 

The septic system is very delicate. We ask that you kindly put used toilet paper into the bins provided, not into the toilets. The bins are emptied daily, and please let us know immediately if you would like your bin cleared.

 

SEPTIC SYSTEM

 

Smoking is not permitted at Blue Spirit with the exception of on the beach.

For reasons of fire safety Blue Spirit does NOT allow candles or incense burning in any of our accommodations.

 

VISITORS

 

Only registered guests are allowed into Blue Spirit. To maintain our privacy and security, please refrain from inviting anyone to the property. If you do wish to bring a guest, please speak with reception about making arrangements.

Visiting guests may dine at the restaurant at an additional cost, with advance notice. All visitors are requested to leave the premises by 10pm.

 

AIRPORT EXIT TAX

 

When leaving Costa Rica you will need to pay a departure tax of $29 at the airport. You can pay this tax with Costa Rican Colones, US Dollars, or by Master Card / Visa. You must pay this tax at the airport BEFORE you join the line to check in for your flight.

 

GRATUITIES

 

It is the efforts of the Costa Rican local staff that makes your stay pleasant and safe. They are responsible for cleaning your room, preparing and serving your food, maintaining the grounds and facility, and general security.

Blue Spirit adds a per person discretionary charge of $60 to your room bill for staff tips – which are distributed equally to all of our Costa Rican staff. This is only a suggested amount that you may change to whatever you feel most appropriate.

Tipping for therapists and the tour guides is separate from general staff. If you do wish to leave a tip, you can tip the therapists in cash at the time of your treatment, or you leave it in an envelope with the therapist's name in the locked box at reception.
